We want this shop to be usable by as many people as possible. This statement describes the standard we work to, what we have implemented, and where this site currently falls short.
We publish it voluntarily. As a micro-enterprise under the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz) we are exempt from its requirements for services. We consider the information worth giving anyway: anyone who wants to know whether they can order here should be able to read it rather than find out by trying.
What is in place
Our benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, conformance level AA. Currently implemented:
- Skip link: The first stop in the tab order skips the header and navigation.
- Ordered headings: Every page carries exactly one top-level heading, with no skipped levels below it. An automated test enforces this across all pages.
- Alternative text: Every image carrying content has a description; decorative graphics are excluded from screen reader output.
- Contrast: Body text sits at a ratio of 16.9:1 on white. For all other text colours 4.5:1 is the minimum, 3:1 for large text and interface components.
- Keyboard operation: Every control, including the configurator, cart and checkout, can be reached and operated without a mouse. The element currently in focus is visibly marked.
- Target size: Buttons and links are at least 44 pixels tall on mobile devices.
- Zoom and text spacing: Pages stay readable when enlarged through the browser's zoom setting, without horizontal scrolling. Increased line, word and letter spacing, as enforced by some assistive settings, does not cut off any text.
- Form error messages: When a required field is missing, a text message naming what is missing appears alongside the colour marking. These messages sit in a region that screen readers announce as soon as it changes.
- No cookie prompt: Our analytics works without cookies. There is no banner covering the content.
We do not offer a font size control of our own. The zoom and font size settings of your browser and operating system take effect on these pages.
How we test
- Automated audits of the live pages with Lighthouse and the axe rule set it contains.
- Our own automated tests, which run on every change. They measure contrast ratios on the fully rendered page tree, check control labels against their visible text, and enforce heading order.
- Manual checks whenever cart or checkout change.
- In addition, a run with WAVE by WebAIM, a second, independent tool with a different rule set.
Last full audit: 2 September 2026. Lighthouse reports a score of 100 in the accessibility category for the home page and the product pages. WAVE reports no errors and no contrast errors for the same pages.
Known limitations
The following points are known to us and named here rather than left out:
- No test with an actual screen reader has taken place. We therefore cannot promise that these pages work with every screen reader in every version.
- Automated tools find only part of the possible barriers. A score of 100 does not mean none exist.
- No testing by people with disabilities has taken place.
- Our automated tests so far run in Chromium-based browsers only.
- We do not issue a formal declaration of conformance under EN 301 549.

We are glad to hear from you. If you come across anything that stops you from using this site, drop us a line at hello@wattsandgrams.de. It helps to know the page concerned, the device you used and, if applicable, the assistive technology involved.
